Peoples Park

SOCIAL JUSTICE, ARCHITECTURE, GRAPHIC DESIGN

for print and digital distribution

spring 2021

Peoples Park has remained one of the most contentious sites in the Bay Area for over 50 years and is currently under threat of demolition due to the lack of student housing and the university's need to displace the increasing unhoused population that calls the park home. Volunteering onsite for two years, I have become very familiar with the residents of the park as well as the political forces and policing that affect the park on a daily basis.

"Peoples Park Reimagined" is a zine I created that was circulated within the College of Environmental Design at UC Berkeley. It examines the park in its past and present, and presents an alternative future that aims to revive the parks roots in community design and activism while prioritizing the needs of the unhoused community.
